Messer
Our messer class is taught primarily referencing Leckuchner’s Kunst und Zettel Im Messer, but is oriented towards skill building and theory crafting using the messer as a medium to develop real-time tactical decision-making skills that can be applied to any HEMA weapon system.

Fridays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Irving park covered basketball courts
When and where:
This class is primarily a study group format, and knowledge of fencing fundamentals is required. Full gear (Mask, gloves, gorget, fencing jacket, hard joint, arm and leg protection) is required for this class.
What is required?
Gabriel Pottebaum has been involved in HEMA for 13 years, and has experience in modern Olympic fencing and knife fighting systems. He’s won medals in multiple tournaments using messers, sabres, singlesticks and rapiers. Gabe has been crippled from birth with a condition called Poland’s Syndrome, and thus strives to set an example for differently abled people and make Historical Martial Arts training as inclusive and accessible as possible.
